Manufacturer datasheet for a dense plasterboard specified where sound insulation is critical. It is supplied in 12.5mm thickness only, weighing 10.2 kg/m2 or 29.4 kg for a 2400 x 1200mm sheet, against 8.0 kg/m2 for standard board of the same thickness. Thermal conductivity is 0.25 W/mK to BS EN 12524:2000 giving a thermal resistance of 0.050 m2K/W. Reaction to fire is Euroclass A2-s1, d0. The core and papers are made from recycled waste paper with bound edges. Siniat states it is used in internal partition types A and B in the context of Approved Document E. Fixings must suit the substrate, with different screws for metal up to 0.7mm and up to 2.5mm.

Siniat
Manufacturer datasheet for moisture resistant plasterboard, the board for washrooms, toilets, kitchens and bathrooms where standard board is not suitable. A 2400 x 1200mm sheet weighs 24.3 kg at 12.5mm and 34.3 kg at 15.0mm, or 8.45 kg/m2 and 11.9 kg/m2, noticeably heavier than the 8.0 kg/m2 of standard board at the same thickness. Density is 676 kg/m3 at 12.5mm and 793 kg/m3 at 15mm. Thermal conductivity is 0.25 W/mK to BS EN 12524:2000, giving thermal resistance of 0.050 m2K/W at 12.5mm and 0.060 m2K/W at 15mm. Reaction to fire is Euroclass A2-s1, d0. The core is aerated calcium sulphate di-hydrate with fillers and moisture resistant additives, and the board identification is printed on the back face and edges. Boards require treating with a PVA bonding agent before finishing. Moisture resistant board is not a waterproof board and still needs a tanking system in a shower area.

Siniat
Manufacturer datasheet for standard drylining plasterboard. A 2400 x 1200mm sheet weighs 17.3 kg at 9.5mm, 23.0 kg at 12.5mm and 28.8 kg at 15.0mm, equivalent to 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 kg/m2, which is why a 12.5mm 8 by 4 sheet is a two person carry up a staircase. Thermal conductivity is 0.19 W/mK, giving a thermal resistance of 0.050 m2K/W at 9.5mm, 0.066 at 12.5mm and 0.079 at 15.0mm, so plasterboard contributes almost nothing to a wall U-value on its own. Reaction to fire is Euroclass A2-s1, d0. The core is aerated calcium sulphate di-hydrate between paper liners with a tapered edge for jointing. Transversal breaking load is at least 160N. Fixings are self drilling screws for metal up to 0.7mm and heavier screws for metal up to 2.5mm, or GTEC High Thread Screws into timber.

Manufacturer datasheet for insulated plasterboard, EPS bonded to 9.5mm plasterboard with PVA adhesive. Thermal conductivity is 0.037 W/mK for the EPS and 0.19 W/mK for the plasterboard, giving total thermal resistance of 0.37 m2K/W at 22mm overall, 0.62 at 30mm, 0.89 at 40mm and 1.16 m2K/W at 50mm. That is the crucial number for internal wall insulation: even a 50mm laminate adds only 1.16 m2K/W, so a solid brick wall lined with it will still be far from a modern U-value. Sheet weight is 18.1 kg at 22mm, 18.4 kg at 30mm, 18.7 kg at 40mm and 19.0 kg at 50mm for a 2400 x 1200mm board, so the extra insulation adds almost no weight. Vapour resistance is 2.31 MNs/g at 22mm and 3.47 MNs/g at 30mm. The laminate complies with BS EN 13950:2014 and the ozone depleting potential is 0. The core and papers are made from recycled waste paper bonded with starch, edge glued with PVA.
